CarneySweeney is instructed by Vantage Data Centers to provide planning advice and services in support of its Data Centre development at Bro Tathan in South Wales.
We acted on the application from the pre-application stage, liaising with the LPA, submitting an EIA Screening Request (successfully arguing the development did not warrant an EIA) and the coordination and submission of the application. A challenging site due to levels of PFAS in the soil, the presence of defence structures associated with WWII and the presence of dormouse and associated habitat, the application was monitored and we responded to consultee comments throughout the process. We also engaged in detailed discussions with the LPA in respect of Section 106 requirements, negotiating these down to necessary and acceptable levels. The application was approved at Committee for 120MW of data storage.
