Our people have secured planning permission for a residential led mixed use scheme on the 8.3 ha Leven Road former Gasworks site, located in Poplar.
Working together with St William (part of the Berkeley Group), JTP Architects and London Borough of Tower Hamlets, a master plan for this allocated site was brought forward to transform a derelict brownfield site to deliver 2,800 new homes, approximately 10,000 sq m of mixed-uses within a new urban quarter, a new 1 hectare riverside park, a new secondary school and sixth form centre, new public urban spaces and a new continuous 500m riverside walk along the River Lea.
The proposals were formed following extensive collaboration with the local community and stakeholders, including TfL and the GLA, ensuring new placemaking, retention of features associated with the site's historic built heritage and opportunities for two future crossings to the adjoining River Lea. CarneySweeney continues to work on further planning applications on this site and delivery of the first Phase.
