CarneySweeney secured outline planning permission for up to 200 homes and employment land that facilitates a new spine road access to the newly planned Wellington railway station. Access to the site was secured via an existing access provided by a Lidl foodstore, planning permission for which was also secured by CarneySweeney. The residential and employment permission triggered active travel requirements negotiated by CarneySweeney with the Local Planning Authority. The spine road and agreed phosphate mitigation represented abnormal costs to the scheme. Following negotiation this led to a significant reduction to Section 106 planning obligations. Most recently CarneySweeney has submitted Reserved Matters applications for the spine road and Station Square, the focal point of which which will contain the 5 metre tip of the Wellington Monument that has been replaced as part of its refurbishment.
