The Secretary of State, Robert Jenrick, has written to Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to invoke a further 4 week extension to respond to the 'Intention to Publish' version of the London Plan. This in addition to an initial 6-week extension to the December version and is explained by the Secretary of State as being due to the Government being too busy. Deputy Mayor Jules Pipe confirmed last week that this will delay the final adoption phase until after the Mayoral elections in May due to the purdah period. The new robust Government's response is eagerly awaited and will no doubt involve high level politicking ahead of the election and cynics may suggest possibly with one eye on the new assembly's potential make-up which will ultimately vote to adopt the plan.
